Instrument gauges in Carrera White?
I have an 06 C4 Cab on the way. I paid extra to have Carrera White instrument gauges because I thought they'd be easier to read in the daylight/sun with the top down. Not asking so much for your personal opinion here (I know some really prefer the black gauges) as I am do you agree the white gauges will be easier to read?
Thanks.
Thanks.

What I hate about the light colored gauges is that is shows the idiot lights even when they are off. On my next 997, I'm going to get black gauges. Readability? Doesn't matter anyway, the LCD speedo is the same color for all 997's and the day glo needle is hard to miss, except maybe on red gauges. At night all 997 gauges look the same.

Only caveat to the painted gauges is that I understand that they can bubble up over time. I agree that they generally look cool.

Easier to read? Not really. Because when it's dark all the guages look the same; they get the same backlighting. Daytime reading? They're almost identical to the S "silver" guages so no difference there. Compared to black? I think the black ones are easiest to read because race cars typically have black. Anyway it really isn;t that big an issue because it's not a plane cockpit where you're staring at a dozen instruments every fifteen seconds. This guy in photo below claims there was no big problems with his choice in this regard. Just buy what you like, the functionality is not an issue.

My '97 C4S had the silver gauges and I found them hard to read at dawn and dusk, also contrast with blinkers wasn't as good--to remember they're on. I went with black for the '05 C2S even though they weren''t standard

yeah I agree with gota911. get what you want. Besides I think it's more a question of maximum contrast between the background and the needle. You've definitely achieved that with black needle white dial. Why? Because every guage is gonna contribute the same amount of glare because they all have the same plastic lens.
Besides, Porsche will put grey *dashboards* in cars which produce hideous reflections sometimes. I believe all BMWs dashes are black... .
