Default PSE install question

I am contemplating the purchse of the Porsche PSE for my base 997. I do not plan on installing the switch. Is it a straightforward installation for a competent import mechanic that is not a porsche specialist and will not have shop manuals? Specifically, if you simply bolt the exhaust on is it 'always on' without any other adjustments? Thanks.

I'd have someone familar with the job do it. Probably not worth a couple hundred dollar savings for the potential headaches.

If you just install the mufflers, its always "on" - that's how I have mine (and I love it!).

Someone here paid $75 to Midas to install PSE on their 996. I think its a very easy job that anyone could do - you could DIY in an hour or so.

Great, thanks for the info. After my girlfriend's experience getting her Cayenne serviced several times at a large metropolitan Porsche dealer, I'm not sure that Midas would be such a bad alternative.

My dealer charged ~$750 to install them on my 997 S with sport chrono. The service book said it was an 8 hour job, but it took longer as it was their first one.

I've been told by a dealer and seen forum posts that the PSE will fit the base model no problemo.

PSE was installed by dealer with no wire hook-up (just bolted on) for $250.00. Takes no more than 1 hour (maybe 2 at most for a first timer) without the wires and vacume tubes. On all the time and wouldn't want it any other way. Worth the extra $$ IMHO and would consider it one of my favorite options on the car (997S). It will bolt on a base 997 also (I'm told) just don't expect the extra 30 hp gains the 997S cars get............................................. Just Kidding no HP gains for either model its the sound that puts a little twist in the P-cars driving experience and for some its well worth it.
