Phone & Sim Card Question

Phone & Sim Card Question
Hello,
How does the SIM Card work with the phone option?
I currently have Cingular and use a Treo 650
If I want to use the same phone number for the 997 Phone option....do I have to take the SIM Card out of my phone each time I enter the car and put it in the car?
Or can I have a second SIM Card that I just leave in the car at all times?
Also, what happens if I have the same phone number for my treo 650 and the porsche. Do both ring when a call comes in?
Thanks
Doug

Well, many of your questions can be answered and figured out by yourself once you understand the fundamental facts regarding a SIM card.
Each SIM card can have one and only one unique identifying phone number. No two SIM cards can have the same number - i.e. no cloning capability. ... Do the math.

Why doesn't Porsche offer bluetooth? I doubt if anyone actually pulls out their SIM card each time to make a call. What a cumbersome system. I would like to see an Eclipse or Kenwood system built into a German car. But I guess that's too much to ask.

Here's what I did. Purchased a Pre-Payed Sim card from Cingular, $100 for 400 minutes good for 6 months with No contract.. You don't need to purchase an actual phone. I leave Sim card in car all the time. Cingular transferred my entire phonebook off my Verizon Phone to Sim card, loads right into PCM. I don't use my 997 often enough to need more minutes. My Verizon phone has much better coverage, but that here in Central California. Hope this may help.

That´s not correct
Here in Germany there exists a company called "Eplus". There is the possibility to have a second SIM card called "Twin card".
If you have the second SIM card in the PCM slot both phones are ringing at the same time. You can choose with which phone you´ll answer the phone call.
Hope this helps

Well, I believe footUNDER was asking about systems here in the US, not Germany.
My statement that you quoted is still correct. I think you were trying to refute my second statement about no two SIM cards being able to have the same number. Here in the US it's illegal to clone a SIM card, which is unfortunate. And if it were legal it would certainly solve this glaring shortcoming with the GSM Module for PCM Phone option. Maybe that's why it may well be a popular option in Germany. I certainly wish I could clone my SIM card, and if someone here in the US can clone it for me I certainly am interested in knowing more (hint, hint).
