Default Option Code 405 Question

As I spec out my 2006 997S order, I am thinking about choosing the Classic Wheel Option Code 405 for $390. I think it is much cleaner looking than the standard S wheels.

My question is are these 19" wheels?
Also, are they wider or lighter than the standard s wheels?

Thanks

Doug

They are 19's. I have read on a thread on another forum that they are lighter than the S wheels but I do not know that to be fact. I believe thay are the same width as the S wheels also.

I think that is a great choice! Total opinion, of course, but there are 2 997s at my office, both Carreras [non-S]. One has the "S" rims [square cutouts/"lobster claw" design], and one has the 19" Classic. The Classics are gorgeous on the 997 IMO.

I opted for the Classics also. As much as I wanted to like the S wheels and stay pure to my S order something about them just made me go with the classics.

No, don't get the classics, they are ugly and weigh 100 pounds more and I hear they break if driven over any stones....

Only a fool would purchase those rims…

Bonus to the Classics is that they are sooo easy to clean - you can take all the brake dust off with a plain rag in just a few minutes.

Classics are the best imo of the factory choices.

I purchased a spec car that already had the Classics, I tried to have that changed to the S wheels.

I'm kinda glad I was unable to make the change. They are starting to grow on me. It could be that in pictures they look plain and cheap but not when you see them up close.

I vote for the S wheels. Thay are unique to the S and help identify the car. The classics are nice and easy to clean but remind me of the 996 wheels, therefore the older model. Don't get me wrong, the classics are nice but IMHO not as distinctive.

I've got classics coming on my new Blue Beast.

I think they look great and there are half as many spokes to clean versus my current 10 spoke 996 wheels. I just never could warm up to the S wheels.

I went with the classics on my 997 they look awesome IMO, if the carrera s wheels were the only option I would have went with aftermarket wheels. The carrera s wheels really bother me. BTW they are super easy to clean!

I think all the Porsche 997 wheels look better in person than they do in photographs, especially the Classics. I ordered the Sport Design wheels, but I know they're going to be a bitch to keep clean.

Default I ordered the S wheels as you can see...

Actually I find these easy to clean... especially after I took them off and waxed them in and out with "wheel wax".

That looks nice! Do you have a pic of the whole car you can post?
