$995 for clear side markers
I was at a local authorized Porsche dealer and they were asking $995 for clear side markers for a 997S they had in the showroom. Just a tad too much for labor you think?

Well, charging $995 for clear side marker lights is analogous to the Pentagon/US Military being charged $800 for a hammer...talk about price gouging! I thought my dealer screwed me when I was charged $200 for them. The charges were broken down as $95 for parts, $100 for labor and $5 for material disposal! I let my salesman know how absurd I thought the charges were and reminded him that I'd been charged $90 for a pair by the dealership on a previous car. Guess dealerships have found a way to beef up their service department income.

Ouch! Think about it. What can the dealer try to nail you for on today's cars? If all goes according to plan you'll spend little time at the dealer for anything.

Vince at Braham West Palm Beach when I told him I bought a pair of markers for 30.00 from Suncoast said that he would be glad to pop them on for me himself - NO CHARGE !

And, strictly speaking, isn't it illegal for a dealer to sell a new car with clear side-markers in the U.S.? Or is it okay if they contain amber bulbs?
$995 for side-markers? What the hell does this dealer charge for oil changes?
