I'm considering a European delivery 997 for this coming spring but haven't been able to find much information regarding this subject. Is Porsche considering or planning on an F1-style transmission for their cars? I know they're not for everyone but after driving a few cars with this setup I am convinced that it is right for my preferences.

DSG probly won't be avail in US for anther 2 yrs. TT might have it and that's a year away. If you are used to manual, just get that instead. If you are used to auto, the tip isn't bad but I'd wait as long as possible for the DSG. I've driven SMG and I'm sold on that.

I had SMG, too, and I'm a believer. Having said that, I figure I could still learn quite a bit more about how to properly drive a stick, so I pulled the trigger on the 997S now, instead of waiting a couple of years. I figure I'll trade-up when the F1-type tranny is available on the 997S -- nothing quite as nice as hearing a PERFECT heel-and-toe downshift every single time I push on a lever.
