2006 MY 997S 5MM wheel spacers
The new MY order guide is showing 5MM wheel spacers as an option, code is XRP. I do not remember this in the 05 guide, is this a desirable option? Is it just visual or is the wider track a handling advantage?
TIA.

996toomey, I've posted on this subject before as well, with no response. Doesn't seeem like anyone is using them. I would think that by providing a wider track there would be a performance/handling benefit. You can look on the fvd motorsports web page and find examples of spacers up to 65 mm. Must be used for racing applications so again I would think there would be a performance value. Also from a looks perspective it would give a subtly more agressive look, depending of course on the width, that would make your car have that somehow different look that you can't quite put your finger on. I think a slightly lowered car with spacers would look just right. Again try the fvdusa.com website for a look at all the options. Just wish someone would chime in that has actually used them.

Thanks KBS:
Your thinking seems ontrack to me. The price for the spacers in the order guide is about $500. seems high like most the other options.

996toomey, FVD has 7mm spacers for the 997 at $59 each, so Porsche is about twice the cost it would appear. Typical. Only advantage is that Porsche would warranty if by any chance you had wheel problems. I'm a month or two from placing my order so I'm trying to get all the little details I can. I didn't see the spacers on the Porsche configurator. Guess I'll have to take a closer look. Thanks.

OK. Found this on the H&R website.
H&R TRAK+ Wheel Spacers
(for 10-90mm track widening per axle)
Even better driving dynamics and more exciting looks: H&R TRAK+ wheel spacers make your car even sportier!
TRAK+ wheel spacers are made from a proprietary aluminum/magnesium alloy which is not only incredibly strong, but also very light (up to 70% lighter than a comparable steel product) to minimize unsprung weight. TRAK+wheel spacers are then hard anodized to ensure a tough, durable finish that is resistant to chipping, scratching and oxidation. H&R TRAK+ wheel spacers move the wheel out from the hub, effectively widening the stance of the vehicle and lowering its roll center. This simple modification increases lateral stability, which in turn provides improved handling, greater safety and of course, the sleek style you’ve been looking for.

Many options are not on the car config. The order guide is out I have it in PDF and will e-mail it to you if you PM me your e-mail. Otherwise I think its posted on Rennteam. I had no luck posting an attachment here.

For the guys considering wheel spacers, have any of you thought about buying a new pair of rear rims designed for the C4S?
I believe I read that the C4S is using a 305 rear tire on the same 11 inch wide rim, but with a different offset to accomodate the wider rear.
