Default 997 RMS Question

Hi from 996 board,

PCNA just replaced my 02 engine due to its 3rd RMS with a new 2005 997 engine. Has anyone with a 05 Carrera had any RMS failures so far?

Yup, Porsche of Arlington, my trusted partners in motoring, took her apart to make sure which seal was leaking oil. I found 19 spots of oil on my garage floor one day. Turned her around in the garage for the next 2 days to see if the leak continued. It didn't, but I took her in anyway to be sure. They are ordering parts tonight. Should be all fixed up by tomorrow. Got a nice Pepper on loan. Perfect service as usual. I'm the first Rear Main Seal issue encountered at the dealership for the 997. Oh well. It could be worst things. I'm shocked. This is the 1st P-car to ever leak oil on my garage floor. Can't wait to get her back. I think she was mad at me for cheating. Two days ago I bought a beater/hoopdee for my work trek into Washington, DC traffic. That Wilson Bridge Project is destroying cars left and right.

My RMS happened at about 16700 miles.

Got her back yesterday. Taking her up to Atlantic City tomorrow. Should be good as new!

I think that is the coolest thing I've heard yet... PCNA set your '02 up with a brand new 997 engine? That's a $9,000 fix on their part. Damn!

Do you get a new 4 year warranty on the motor, too? That would make me a Porsche fan for life!

Oh, add two additional RMS replacements to those posted so far.

I'm cool with it.

I would be very surprised to hear that they give a 4/50k on the new motor. Most likely they are going to give you a 12k/1 year warranty on the part and let the rest of the new vehicle warranty take care of the part if it goes outside of 12k/1 year.

That was the deal with my Audi. I had two engines and a tranny go on that car. Man that was a headache.
