Default SL55amg vs 997s?

As I was leaving the parking lot, I noticed a silver SL55amg parked nearby. I'm curious how it stacks against the 997s. How does the 997s with a smaller engine and less HP compare?

Is it better on the track than the SL55 with regards to handling and braking?

Has anyone driven the SL55 can comment the difference between the two?

The carrera S is a quick car - it is the car that has done the best against me at low boost pump gas timing, and this includes RS6, ZO6, Evo, and Mustang Cobra.
The carrera weighs over a 1000 less than the Mercedes. And it has more than 355 HP - that is a funny joke. More like 355 at the wheels, unless the one I met had x51, or something.
Merc=8.4 LB/HP Carrera=8.7 LB/HP
Straight line the mercedes is probably faster with all that torque.
The carrera will handle better than anything, so that isn't a concern - except a Lotus, or another toy-car like that.

I have been in both on track, the 997S is far superior in handling. Both have awsome stopping power. Found the SL55 quite boring after awhile but still a great ride.

As I walked by it I wasn't too impressed. Until I saw the damn AMG badge in the rear...then I the amg envy bug bit me. Oh wells, the grass is always greener on the other side.

I'll make sure to ignore it if I ever see the sl55 at a stoplight.

I'm not a big fan. Test drove one and felt it was too numb in terms of control feel: you're not hardwired into the controls like youare in a 911.

Then the other evening some ****ole in an SL55 decides he wants to push me out of my lane on Lake Shore Drive - DELIBERATELY - i'm not joking and this at speeds of around 60mph which is pretty dangerous if you know how narrow the lanes are and how much traffic there is: even Michael Schumacher would have been shocked by the nastiness of that move. Do people who drive SL55's have small d8cks btw???

wrt your last comment, could "SL" stand for schmeckle and the "55" be in millimeters?
Personally I think the AMG SL and SLK55 are really good looking cars. That said, they are all about the HP and torque and are VERY fast in a straight line. The SLK55 is supposed to be a much more responsive car in terms of handling (vs other AMGs)but despite all of the extra horses typical track times are on par with a Boxster S.
