Thanks for the help. I think I have narrowed my choices, I doubt my prices are correct but they should be close.

2006 C4S Basalt Black/Black Int $83,400

680 Bose System Upgrage $1,390
P11 Self Dim Mirrors $385
P74 Bi-Xenon lamps $1,090
E70 Full Leather $3,315
X45 Instrument Dials Painted Ex Color $860
XX1 Front Floor Mats w/Porsche $425
XXC Porsche Head Crest $220
XLF Sport Exhaust System $2,400
CCZ Sport Shifter $790
X54 Stainless Steel Exhaust $765
446 Wheel Caps w/Colored Crest $175
482 TPMS ?
640 Sport Chrono Package $920
P01L Adaptive Sports Seats $2,695

Total Price $99,625

I spoke with 3 dealers today and they all said the would beat the others price. What is a fair discount on a custom build? I wonder if it would be more advantageous to ask for extra options in lieu of a smaller discount - for example, instead of asking for a 3k cash discount, ask for 5k of free options?

You don't need the x54 stainless pipes if you're gonna go for the XLF sport exhaust system! You just saved $765! IMHO, If money isn't an issue go for the options --- make it your dream car!

I got $4k of MSRP on a 2005 911S cab plus the dealer gave me Sport Chrono at dealer cost. This was last Dec.for an April build car. I know of some dealers where if you really order a heavily optioned car will give you options at dealer cost once the price reaches a certain level.

Currently, the best deal I can find is $3,500 off sticker. This is without squeezing anyone to hard. I believe I can easily achieve a $5,000 discount on a 2006 c4s.

I'm not so sure about that, particularly on a car that's not even been released yet. The best I could find on a C4S was $3,000, while the best I found on the C2S was $4,000. I had to call something like 15 or 20 dealerships before I found one that would play.

I also thought a big discount on a yet to be released model would be difficult, but on my 3rd call the sales manager immediately offered $3,500 off a fall delivery. I have not found that any dealership has a long waiting list for a c4s, I would imagine that has factored into things.

The first 2 dealers both offered to "match" any offer from another dealership. I don't like that non-aggressive tactic, therefore I will just buy from the dealership that is the most willing to deal. The first dealership emailed me today to inquire what kind of deal I have found and I told them it was substantially higher than the 2k I first anticipated and that their passive sales techniques likely cost them a customer - they were totally unwilling to sell below MSRP.

I believe the bottom line is that 100k car sales are not that hot, especially if you are not on the east or west coasts. Just how many Porsches do you think a dealer really sells in Evansville, Indiana (population 150k)?

Great posts! I love hearing how everyone justifies their options and what's important to them. That's one of the best things about a Porsche- the ability to get one exactly how you want it. I have a black launch car and one of my favorite options is the ceramic brakes- they look clean all the time and stop on a dime. I'm really getting tired of the black paint upkeep and if I ordered a new one, I think it would be the GT silver. tnunnery- please post pictures when you get yours. Sounds nice,

Posting pics is the least I can do! Only after countless hours looking at the pics of the various colors and options on Rennlist was I able to decide.

Kevin - The launch cars had a pretty nice spec, especially the PCCBs. What's your opinion on the adaptive seats?

I don't know about any place else in the US but in South Florida it seems the market for these things is pretty damn hot. My sales guy was commenting how he just can't get enough cars. The day they received my S every other 997 received (4 trucks of cars at the same time) was pre-sold.

I really like the adaptive seats but I've never tried the standard or sport...they could be almost as nice and a lot less $$$. Also, my passenger seat rattles over rough roads when there is nobody sitting in it and the dealer can't fix it. Otherwise, I love the seats- they fit perfectly but I have always loved Porsche seats.
