When is the Factory Holiday?
My dealer called me today with some good news (finally). My July build for a 2006 S is now showing in the computer as a July 25 build date. I was also told there was a "Checkpoint 8" date of July 15, which according to my dealer, is the date the car gets a VIN and the real 'build' date is usually closer to the "Checkpoint 8" date. I think I heard that right.
My dealer reminded me of the 3 week holiday but he does not know when that date will occur. My theory is that it must be after my ride gets built or those dates would be pushed out. SO, it remains possible for an August delivery?
Grabbing at straws here.

As I understand it, the build date is a scheduled estimated date of completion. When it is assigned a VIN number the car has actually been or is about to be built. The "Checkpoint 8" date is the date the car goes through final quality inspection and leaves the assembly plant. Looks like your dealer has a mix up in the dates.

I have a build date of 7/18/05 and I too am a bit confused about the timing of the final delivery and the holiday schedule. There is a good post about the order status codes, what they mean and (I surmise) their cronological order: see MJones' post #2 under the thread "My order has been confirmed" dated 2/26/05 in this forum.
Did you get all the options you ordered? I was told that my painted-to-color console was unavailable (as was any special console, e.g., wood, fiber etc.) and that my console would be produced as a standard one. Not a big deal, just wondering why.
At the time I put down my deposit, my sales guy said I could expect delivery about 6 wks after the build date.
