I had two other passengers in my car and he started first, I didn't know we were going to race. After he left I went, granted only a fraction of a second but still. After we were halfway through third he was still pulling away from me inch by inch.

And as far as drag racing goes, you are right the 997S is not a drag car, but if I get a chance to race a Ferrari I am doing it every time. I drive my car about once a week and live in a town with about 7,000 people, what are the chances of a 997S and Ferrari 360 meeting in the first postion of a red light on a highway? To say the least the first time for me and probably the last.

Sorry if I slightly highjacked your thread. My only other problem, other than my water pump, has been my dislike for the clutch. I agree with some other posts I have seen that something about it is just not right.

Thanks! Yes, I have quite a few others, but here's the only other one that I posted when I first got the car.

Interesting comments about the clutch!

Some background information.

On my 03 X51 I had to have the clutch replaced at 3000 miles (would slip on hills, especially from standing start...and yes I know how to drive a stick shift, first time in over 50 cars that I had to
replace a clutch. No problem from the dealer in warranty covering it they knew it wasn't my problem.

Anyway, I began to think about causes and thought maybe oil is leaking on to it, RMS type issue..not mechanical but it made me wary. Never did find out the root cause because i sold it pretty quickly after that. You could say we got off on the wrong clutch!

Yes. I know lots of you think it's too common or boring, but I think it looks great. It's actually grown on me even more over the past several weeks. In some light it kinda looks like brushed steel. Although in retrospect I haven't see a 997 color that didn't look good.

Not at all. I own Arctic Silver now and my order is seal grey. I am considering Gt Silver Metallic to be a little different, love that color as well but am having a hard time with the $2245. difference in price between Gt Silver and Seal Grey.

There's a GT Silver in the same parking lot at work and I gotta say it's really stunning. I couldn't justify the cost diffrence, but otherwise I'd probably have gotten that color. One downside for me would've been that it seems a lot more flashy, but on the other hand I've noticed that even a "boring" grey 911 draws more attention than I'm use to.

Another opportunity to post a GT-S pic!

Perfect, now I have my 2 favorite colors in the same thread and I don't have to open 2 browsers anymore to compare.

I've got nearly 14,000 miles on my car now, and I must say that I enjoy it more and more with every 1,000 miles.

Since my car was a launch car, I did have some early teething issues (coolant issues, RMS, malfunctioning rear defroster switch), but my dealer has rectified these issues and has taken care of me every step of the way. At this point, I couldn't be happier.
