Everything's good here. IOW it's meeting expectations.

A happy owner and driver. The drive is good and after 7000 miles I'm still in a learning mode. I drive the car dry, rain, cold or hot weather.

The car (a non S) has a few issues. Rattles on day one in the passenger door. That was an easy and fast fix, sometimes I have a small rattle here or there. Motor compartment ventilator is vibrating (will be fixed soon, I hope, as they are waiting for the fan since forever). Headlights shows cracks. Most people will maybe not even see those cracks. My headlights will be replaced this afternoon.

Still do feel a little bump in the power curve around 3000 rpm. It is a small little bump, but clearly something is going on in the motor management around 3000 rpm.

So a daily drive with no major issues and I hope it will stay like that.

I think the "bump in the power curve around 3000 rpm" is the intake changing from one configuration to another and is normal.

Absolutely outstanding. My 911 is my daily driver, is surprisingly comfortable on long trips, and the back seats see regular use, whether picking up my sons at baseball practice or on Saturday morning Krispy Kreme runs. Its bank vault solid with an understated, timeless elegance. I've put a little over 5,000 miles in 4 months and have added about 1 quart of Mobil One oil.

Well said, YoungTurk.

At 7100 miles I'd opine that the 997 S grows stronger with every mile now. Yesterday I drove an "old favorite" circuit of two laners and super highway between Tahoe and Sacramento that was better than ever imagined because of the 997. This car truly is a elevation of the art of auto making. We are fortunate indeed. Add the Rolling Stone's "Some Girls" album on a warm, sunny day to good road in beautiful country and, well, it is heaven on four wheels.

PV who's your dealer? I have a rattle in my door too but am afraid they'll muck up the panels taking them apart. I got mine from Momentum and Chase is my advisor.

Advantage on the I-10. Larry is the advisor. They have a very senior tech available. He did my door. Didn't see any scratch or whatever after the event.

I understand your concern. Although my daily driver, I still focused on having a good break in and so on.

Today a repair of the motor compartment fan. Is not vibrating anymore. Also new lenses on the headlights. I have the impression that the lenses are slightly changed compared to the 2005 model, but I'm not absolutely positive.

PS: Advantage has currently two CGT's (yellow and black) in the showroom. Worth a visit!

Thanks to all for a great forum
On the 996, an RMS repair out of warranty is about $800.

the 997 s should easily beat the 360 0-60 and 0-100, but the 997 will lose to it easiily...............

And truly, with respect, why drag race with a Porsche? It's a lap after lap track car. It has the world's benchmark brakes which allow you to set into the corner faster and later, it has a suspension setup so precise that your driver inputs have the feeling they are transmitted over optical cable, and it has the ability to award "smooth" driving with the "wet line" lap after lap after lap.

If you want to kick anything's ***, drag after drag after drag, from experience I suggest an automatic tranny Corvette with a Yank Pro torque converter and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering's most powerful naturally aspirated upgrade for approx. $18,000 these days. Add an extra $8000 for brakes and exhaust to stop and announce the rocket and you've got a ride that ****s WRX on the trot.

I'm not familiar with the different models but its 0 - 60 time is 4.5 sec. That's faster than my car.

Only 2300 miles so far, but no problems yet (knock on wood). ;-) Best car I've ever owned.
