A co-worker informed me this morning of this accident that happened yesterday here in California.
Just for your information here's the link to the story he forwarded to me.

Burning Brakes
I suppose we may never know what went wrong. 100 mph is not that fast and I would imagine the driver is not being reckless with a $400,000 automobile.
I wonder if it was mechanical, i.e., steering or tire blow-out.

Some of the reports say a Ferrari merged onto the track, from the pits, at a very fast part of the course possible distracting the driver in the Porsche.
Does anyone know what line of work Ben was in?

But it's also an all too sobering reminder that driving on a track for high performance DE or lapping day events is an addictive but dangerous hobby and it's best to keep that in mind when someone decides to go for the last tenths of a second for that non-existent trophy. That's something I'm always reminding my students when my butt-o-meter starts sensing that he/she is starting to over drive his/her car.

Ben is being talked about all over the car boards. He must have been a popular guy. I never really had a chance to "know" him. Didn't even recognize his name, I'm a newbie afterall, but now wish I did.

Damn, damn, damn. God Bless his family members with peace and understanding.
To his credit, he was apparently able to forge intelligence with a strong will to craft an impressive level of success in the hard game of life. Well done.
Far too soon Mr. Keaton... but you clearly walked the walk while you were here.
