Default Car Height when switching on PASM

Does the 997 S actually lowered when the PASM is switched on, or is it that
the S is always lower than the non-S model regardless of the PASM setting?

It is always 10mm lower than the base Carrera suspension - there is no regulation of height when switching between modes.

According to the official Porsche handbook, "The New 911: Carrera and Carrera S", bluelines is correct. The final paragraph on page 45 of the above reads, "The standard chassis on the new 911 Carrera S rides 0.39 inches lower than on the 911 Carrera."

That said, the Porsche promotional video titled "Split Second" and found on the Porsche website, has a narrative that reports, "... with PASM the body is 10mm closer to the road...." Therefore, it would seem that the basic setup of PASM, standard on the Carrera S and optional on the Carrera, is what accounts for the lower ride height.

In summary, it is the addition of PASM that accounts for the lowering in ride height yet there is no variation in ride height between the "Normal" and "Sport" mode of PASM.
