Tires
March build PS2's. I asked when I took delivery and the factory rep said they have to be fair to the tire manufacturers that they've taken on as OEM suppliers so they mix them up and wouldn't guarantee Conti, Pirelli or Michelin...glad I got the PS2s though
Ours was built in early October, and has 18" Continentals.
The Continentals have unbelievable stick in wet and dry. I went through two sets of the previous version of the tire on my M3, and the CS2s on the Carrera have completely different characteristics. Whereas the old Contis had a soft sidewall, which led to a nice ride but severe edge wear even with high pressures, the new version on the Carrera has a very stiff sidewall, stiffer ride than I remeber from a test drive in a PS2-shod car, and no apparent edge wear, even with hard cornering.
The compounds seem to be very different as well, with the traction control nearly impossible to invoke (car is a Tiptronic), even in the wet. The old Continentals on the M3 were much easier to break loose.
Overall, the new Continentals are a great performance tire.
