CLS500
I just saw the car for the first time on the road in Alabaster White/Sunset Red. Mercedes did a great job on this car.
After some serious soul searching, I've decided to cut back the work responsibilities and not sell the 997. All feedback was greatly appreciated, especially those of you who stressed the importance of family. I realized I have spent way too much time out of the country focusing on business, and having stepped away from it once before, I have worked out a compromise w/ the B of D.
Anyway, I think I am going to look into the CLS500 as a daily driver so I can keep the P-car low on miles and used for enjoyment only.

I thought so too at first.
Take a second look.
The cabin is so closterphobic and encroaching, to me it is truly an unpleasant experience being in one, not to mention MB's poor quality rating on top of it all.
I think you can find better.
Why keep the P car for low miles. Porsche built the car to be driven, not hide in a garage.

Drove the CLS 500 today. Wife is in an S500 and ready for a new one. New S500 due in a year, so we looked hard at the E500 and CLS500 (I'd opt for the 55 on either, but she's driving this most of the time).
I enjoyed the comfort and handling of the CLS, but agreed it was very cacoonish inside. In order to get the seat right, I had it all the way down (I'm 6' and not bald) and my hair was still close to the lining of the roof.
In the back it was not that bad, but those seats fall even deeper to get enough headroom.
Still an overall damn nice package for the price, especially from Mercedes.
E500 was a no-go - too boxy, not enough plush compared to the S and CLS.
Guess we'll wait a year. Listed for the '07 S500 now.
Also drove a Lexus GS - new body style. Nice looks. Ride is very harsh (I kind of liked it, but did not expect that from a sedan).
