Robert: Sure, clay is really good on stubborn "speckled crap" on your windshield, as you so well describe it. You won't need to worry at all about harming your windshield, since it's much tougher and harder than the water based paint finish on your car. In fact, and I haven't tried this yet, but I've heard of guys using a power polisher on their windshield to remove those tiny specks of stone chips. Let us know how it all works out for you.
