But I'd rather not do it unless I was 110% confident in the installer. I'd rather have a few chips than a crappy film install on the front of my $110,000 car. These guys seem very good.
But in the end I could probably take it or leave it. I almost feel better when the car gets a ding or two. At that point I can realx and just enjoy the driving experience.

Yes, I am still up in the air on it. I went to the germanautofest today in Ventura and looked at cars with the clear bra on and most did not look good. There was a 3M installer ther in the vendor area who was very convincing.
Sam are you using 3M film? The 3M guy said it is more difficult to install and most installers do not use it for that reason. He also said it is the best film out there. Of course he is biased. What are the pros and cons of the different films?

Sam:
Did some reading and it looks like you use Venture film. Is this correct and why that film as opposed to 3M? Does XPEL do your kits for you?
Thanks.

996toomey, I believe 3M film has clear coat it has more of orange peel affect, Venture is not clear coated it more clear. btw Sam will be doing my 997s next weekend and he will do the entire hood on my car (Not 1/3). I think you should have it done if you don't like it you can always take it off.

Thanks alin330. Will you post some up close and personal photos of the car after the install. What is the price difference for the hole hood option?

This is really where you could tell the difference between those who are fairly new to the industry and the seasoned installers. It really isn't about the film.....installation expertise is the key to making it look good. If installation is equal, then the clearer films are more difficult to install. 3M's orange peel texture actually hides a lot of installation flaws. The clearer films such as Venture, Madico, Aerospace, etc......aren't as forgiving when it comes to stretch marks, silvering, dimpling, etc. Those who state that one film is better than the other is really missing the fact that the installation technology is more important.
