My "launch car" car came with 46 miles on it when my buddy (the previous owner) bought it new in September 2004.

I should also add that my car has a sticker in the windshield that says, "Test driven and approved by Hurley Haywood", with his signature attached. So I guess some of these miles must have been his "test drive." The car was originally purchased at Brumos Porsche in Florida.

Default I don't believe they're "track tested, just a good 10 mile run on the autobahn

Any of the more recent 997 new owners, care to post your delivery miles please?
I still don't have my 997, but I'll make a move by next spring for sure.

We have a good sampling here, and though it's not material to the enjoyment of the cars, it's still fun and interesting -- well, to me at least -- to see how much test mile deviation there is from the factory, and whether test miles are essentially the same on the fifty X51 Club Coupes, or S models with X51 option, or new C4 models. Thanks in advance.

Sure--my Club Coupe, delivered on 10/29 had 4 miles on it when it left the truck, and 8 miles when I drove it off the showroom floor.

Who cares if Hurley Haywood approved the car? That's like buying a set of expensive knives and finding out once you open the package "Emeril Approved." You already KNOW they're great knives, who gives a damn what Emeril [or Hurley] thinks? Not directed against you, eilig, just an observation of a strange marketing idea.

My car had 19 miles on it upon delivery.

When I did my first PDE Herley Haywood was one of my instructors. He offered to sign the underside of the hood of my 996. "No offense Hurley, not even you get to write on my Porsche."

Here's what my salesman said:
Cars are delivered to us with varying miles, usually 11-30.
Plus, the technician will drive it approx 6 miles
Hope that helps,
Don

My '06 Arctic Silver 997S was delivered with 14 miles on it. Oh was I pleased that day, and every day ever since. I was a good boy and waited the 2k mile break-in until I hit the Sport mode button. Oh baby, let me tell ya!!

To all the Porsche engineers, who've made my new 911 lightyears ahead of my '82 SC, have a drink, on me.

My new 997S was delivered several weeks ago with 4 miles on it. After dealer prep, I picked it up with 14 miles. As tough as it is, I've kept it under 4200 rpm for the 500 miles I have on it to date. I've had good success following an easy break-in procedure with other cars I've owned.
