My 997
Easily the finest car I've ever owned. Second best, previously first - 2001 Boxster. After parting with my Boxster in 2003, I wandered in an automotive wilderness of sorts - until last night when I test drove and bought off the showroom floor an '05 Arctic Silver/Black 997 with the following equipment:
Nav
Bose
Heated Seats
Xenons
Power Seat package
Sport Steering wheel
19" Carrera S Wheels
Remote CD changer
Dec. 2004 build. Only 150 miles so far but it already feels like I belong in it, and it belongs to me. Hard to describe, actually, but I felt that way in my arctic silver but not in the striking GT silver parked right next to it.
I've already entered a destination in the NAV system and it took me right to the dooorstep with the directions and the nice female voice. I'd appreciate any tips or suggestions.

Turk,
Sounds like we've followed a similar path. I sold my '02 996 Cab in 2003 and have since bounced from an s2000 to a z06. When I saw the first 997's I knew I had to have one. The feeling was confirmed after a test drive.
Drove my new Seal Grey/Black 997 home this past Saturday, and I know what you mean about it just feeling right. Our cars are similarly configured, except I have the Sports Chrono package and 18" wheesl rather than 19." And no remote CD changer.
Congrats on the car!

Thanks!
Actually, I bought the car in Charlotte, at Hendrick Porsche. Came close to pulling the trigger on a black 997s at Performance, but just a bit outside of budget, plus Seal Grey is my favorite color. Performance did not have a Seal Grey car when I bought.
I've dealt with Daniel at Performance, great guy and a true Porsche freak.
What brought you to Chapel Hill? I've got good friends in VA Beach.
Ed F - I went to Performance because my local dealer (Checkered Flag) has earned a special place on my "never do business with again" list. I will however be relegated to having warranty work completed by CF but have zero intention on ever paying for any service or maintenance since I cannot support the owners poor customer service policies that permeate through their management team. Too bad for them since I have 3 late model bimmers from them and their poor treatement has resulted in a lost cutomer for any vehicle purchasea now or in the future!
BTW, you're right about Daniel. He's a real Porsche nut with whom I had a great experience dealing with. I also was wrong about the color that I saw. They did have a Seal Grey but it was not a "S" and I did check out the black "S" with the sport chrono package. A cool option!
Best of luck with your beautiful new toy!
