Default Will 996 Hardtop Fit a 997 Cab?

Is there any possibility that a hardtop from a 996 cabriolet could be fitted to a 997 cab? I've got a '02 cab that I'm thinking of trading in for a 997. I really like the look of the cab with the hardtop on which I use during the winter months. The hardtops used to be a delete option but now they're a $2,300 option, so if I could keep my existing top it would be a savings.

mabye, no one knows yet.

the roof panels of the 997/996 coupes are the same, thats a good starting point.

porsche may do this to save $. the boxster hardtops seem to fit both 986/987

Speed, if it's a silver hardtop with blue interior, I would be interested in buying it from you.

It's cheaper to have the top repainted than to buy a new one. I looked into this when I traded in my 1999 cabriolet for my '02 cab. My body shop gave me a quote of $800 to repaint the top vs. $1,500 delete option for the top at that time. The reason I didn't do it was because my '99 was guards red with a Savanna beige interior and the '02 was arctic silver with a blue interior so the interior of the old hardtop really would have clashed.

Stef, the same question is being asked for the Boxster. If you know, will a 986 hardtop fit a 987.

The 987 tequipment catalog has a listing for a hardtop but it has a 987 part number. But the part number change could be for a number of reasons that have nothing to do if it will fit. Jeff

No, for the 987 Boxster we changed the side window profile. If you retrofit the 986 side glass (and 986 soft top) then the 986 hardtop will fit the 987.

How can you be so definatively certain?

I believe Stef works at the 997/987 exterior design studio, and the former president of the PCA Germany Region.

Ahhhh, that is what I really wanted to eek out. Because, understanding that he is so close to Porsche I am curious why he has not peeked in or offered any commentary on the the Skip in Boulder, CO issues.

Really curious about what is being said aroind the table at Porsche. I am certain they or someone MUST be reading that thread and the fact the I canceled my order because of the mounting problems I have been hearing about the 997 and PCNA's way of resolving them and keeping Porsches name in good stead. Perhaps they are reading it and do not really care, certainly NO ONE from Germany has chimed in that thread...not even a peep! But they have chosen to show they are reading at least the threads that talk about whether parts (a friggin hardtop) can be swapped betwixt a 996 and 997.

Doesn't that make anybody here just a little bit curious if not just a tiny bit mad?

Sorry, had to vent there just a bit I am feeling like Skip got treat really poorly and deserves a little more attention for PAG than a hardtop swap topic.

Hey DoubleNutz, get off your high horse and put your brain in gear.
I cruise the Rennlist as a private individual and Porsche enthusiast. The fact that I may be employed by Porsche AG has nothing to do with me being here and at no point in time can (or will) I make statements that can either be seen or interpreted (rightly or wrongly) as representing Porsche AG.
It is pointless venting your frustration at me. I have offered a carefully worded comment to Skip about his problem, but I am certainly not in a position to solve the issue (I design the cars, I do not assemble them). It is also very naive of you to think that anybody from Porsche is going to log into Rennlist and say "we are so sorry for Skip's problem" and lay the company open to every ambulance-chasing lawyer. Wake up!
Notice are taken of certain complaints, wishes and trends on the Rennlist, but that is only one piece in the puzzle of understanding the big picture.
Now that I have stated my position, it will be appreciated if you can refrain from the attitude shown in your above posting.
Best regards from a Porsche enthusiast.

Do whatever you want to do.
It's pointless arguing with you if you cannot comprehend that I am not the company. Trying to call me a chicken that hide behind his employer proves your infantility, on top of your dyslexic problem in understanding "I cruise the Rennlist as a private individual".
If you have a case then take it to court, but you will have to bring more than just emotional garbage.
