Default Buying a 997S

I'm in the market for a 997S and have inquired at a couple of dealers here in the SoCal area. It seems like the cars are going for msrp at the dealerships here. I was wondering if they're any cheaper in other states, notably in the east coast. If anyone's purchased from out of state for less and shipped their car to Cali, I'd appreciate any feedback and recommendations. TIA

if you buy from a dealer on the east coast, they will work with you on the price, the west coast market is noticably tighter and some dealers even have waitlists for the 997S.

most dealers will ship to wherever (in the continental states) free of charge.

are you looking to order a car or take one off a lot?

Thanks for the reply!

Preferrably, I'd like to order the specs. However, I can pick a car from the lot if the specs are close to what I have in mind.

997S w/Chrono, short shift, and sunroof deletion. Pretty base in terms of options but that's what I fancy. I had an 02 M3 with the lack of options as well.

How much of a cost percentage do you think an east cost dealer is willing to negotiate? Also, I'm willing to pick up the car myself at the dealership and drive it home if the cost savings is more than if I purchase locally...don't mind a little roadtrip.

I don't really know what''s going on with prices; got mine on launch day with a small discount and outstanding trade, but I have a long relationship with the dealer. I think the S's are probably still bringing msrp or close to it in SoCal, at least doubt there are any huge discounts.

You may not know that you can, through the Porsche website, check inventories at all dealers (not 100% accurate but close), including checking the exact options on each car. At this point, I imagine it would be tough to find one with sunroof delete and/or short shifter (but the latter can be changed out very easily - B&M already has their 997 short shifter out).

Good luck - you will love the 997S.
