No I do not sell these junky devices but when I buy them I expect them to keep me out of trouble when I am in trafic or jockying amongst others at 80-90....(If I am not in traffic no detector will probaly work because it may not be feasible to slow down) especially on NY thruway....In other places it does not matter...like in town or on NJ highways because their euipment is older...The V1 did pick up Laser as well as the Bell...But, they are giving out tickets on that highway based on POP and the V1 really needs an update....I am mad at V1 for LAGGING BEHIND....By the way...I am not a seller or installer of any devices.

I know my Escort Passport 8500 X-50 sees POP but POP is quite elusive as it is triggered instantaneously without warning, no matter what detector you use.

The Passport is probably good, I just have not tried it...I would not trust the battery operated ones though....But the V1 is absolutely no good (until and I stress UNTIL, they provide the upgrade and I hope they do it soon!). I enjoyed the V1 until I received 2 tickets on separate occassions and was told "tell it to the Judge" (of Bubble ***)... Once the V1 gets "flashed" or gets upgraded I would be happy with it but until then I do NOT trust it. So far the RX 65 picks up the "POP","ka " and Laser with enough notice (as would the new escort)

Nobody mentioned the K-40 dectector I have used for 2 years with great success. It's very easy to tell a false alarm from a real one, with plenty of time to react. Beside that, it is built into my dash and isn't noticable.

Poor 997man, never driven a 996TT, GT3 or GT2.

It reminds me those kids driving Evos and Sti that swear their cars are the fastest and better handling out there.

Owned 03 Silver/black996TT as well as 04 GT3 in your color combo...DUMPED THEM BOTH!!!
TT drove too heavy and I didn't like all wheel drive feel. It was too refined! Engine sound was very disappointing. But, once fully wound up the car truely had warp speed. Front lip of TT looked like a cheap aftermarket add on...
AS for GT3 that was a different animal...great engine (but unable to warp you like the TT) and it had a special exhaust note, but I tore off the front lip during the 1st week of ownership, to much tramlining on the highways, boy racer "EVO" wing made the car a stand out with the jersey boys at BURGER KING (on RT 20 ) and I tore off front lip 2 more times before trading it in. Very unstable driving this 115K car with no front lip and I never bottomed out a car more often!!!!
997S is simply more planted. engine seamed slow for 1st 1K miles (I do not believe in the break in nonsense) and the car was slow indeed as clocked (by the chronos and my performance meter)..now with >2.2K it has come alive!!!

997man,
I agree with some of your points, not others.
I drove a 997s, while it handled well it was not that much better than my c4s,imo. While I like most of the interior, the pasm has got to go, too much going on in the middle of the dash. In short, until the 997tt comes out(next yr) I won't be trading mine in. Besides, the 997tt will have a all new awd system that I am sure it will share with it's little brother, the c4s, then the 997c2s may become obsolete. Looks-wise, my c4s was parked right next to the 997, I think mine sits lower, looks meaner and has better lines. All in all, the 997s is nice, but not nice enough to jump.
As far as the v1, I think it is a pos too. I have never had a problem with my wireless s2 escort. Anecdotally, on a de trip to the glen, my friends viper (with v1 )never picked up a cop with lasar, while my s2 went crazy with plenty of advanced warning. Besides, the v1 looks like crap in a porsche with that big-*** **** and clumsy wires, just mho.

Hi there,
I just installed an Escort 8500 X-50 and an updated V1, side by side for some crude testing, and I can honestly say that I can't live without the arrows, the loud warning, etc, etc,of the V1. Don't like at all the way that the escort inform the driver.,I took the Escort and installed it on my wifes mini/van,that is probably the best place for it,imho, cheers,Sonny.

sonny, your mistake was you should have hard wired the Bel RX-65. I am not impressed with the escort products either.

I agree with some of you points too,Doc.,not others
The 997 (w/2500miles) is still getting quicker as it "breaks in " It is the most planted rear wheeled drive Porsche EVER and is as planted as a 4s or TT. It is definately woth waiting for a car that soots you driving style. I look forward to the 997 GT3 (if it drops the "ironing board" on the rear deck. The new 997 TT will no doubtedly be awesome fot those who want warp speed with out spinning the rears (you must like 4WD,bad ehhaust note and slight turbo lag)
I believe you dislike the Chronos clock and not the PASM???? At first I did not like the chronos clock but you do get use to it with time..It also works well when power testing the car or playing around on road/track.
Looks...997 has all the "scars" (crease lines) in the right places...with a better overall appearance and a sleeker look especially with the integration of the front lights and rear bumper. Sorta like the difference of a surgeon and one who specializes in Plastic Surgery. To me, lines that slant upward towards the rear gives a better aerodynamic appearance than ones that are purely horizontal.
As for the V1, I hope the company WAKES UP!!!!!! It is only good in areas that law enforcement use OUTDATED Equipment....like in town . I WOULD NEVER USE IT AGAIN (in its current state) ON MY WAY TO THE HAMPTONS OR MY TRIPS TO UPSTATE NY. After 2 strikes/ tickets where it never went off PERIOD, I do not trust it!!!!!!
