Thumbs up No Problems with the S?

I haven't seen people posting about all their problems with the S. Does that mean that this is a relatively good first year run or is it too early to tell?

I haven't taken delivery of my Carrera yet, but have driven the same S a couple of times at my dealer. I noticed some loose trim on the passenger-side footwelll and a broken passenger-side mirror motor. I'm sure that car had been driven very hard by many different types of drivers and the proper break-in procedure hasn't been followed either. I was just surprised to see that happen to a car with only 150 miles on the clock.

I'm also very interested in early reports of reliability. I don't know whether I'm going to lease or buy yet, and a lot of it hinges on anecdotal reports. If it looks less than robust, I'll lease it and let PCNA worry about resale and just lease it. That way, it will be under full warranty during the lease term.

I took delivery of my 997 S August 25th. Now with 1500 miles, no problems and the best I have owned. My Boxster, C4S, and Cayenne S all had problems in the first week requiring a visit to the dealer. I have loved every Porsche I have owned and all are an absolute thrill. But in my personal experience, this 997 S is truely amazing and like no other.

I have just over 3,300 miles now on my S and there are no problems to report.

Just wondering , why do you refer to your car as an '05 model when its still '04?

I believe all 997 models are assigned to the 2005 model year, even though some were built during the Summer of '04 and beyond.

1100 miles and two problems:

1. Front brake pads were loose and would clunk. Service fixed it.

2. Rattle in dash, apparently from the ignition switch box.

Otherwise, it has been great. -Ray

1600 miles so far on the 997S, no problems at all except a rattle from the overhead light lens. My best Porsche ever - I love it!!!

1200 miles and only one minor problem discovered the day after i picked it up....the brake light lens in the spoiler was missing a clamp and dislodged itself.....fixed in 2 minutes by the dealer :-)

Hi Seal,
I had the same problem, however I don't think it can be fixed that easy. My brake ligt seems to have broken one of the clamps...the right one, and it is is actually missing...and I think they will have to change the whole piece...can you imagene how much time to come from Geermany??? It happened today and when I arrived home the brake light was pending from the closed spoiler, hanging from the electric wires...not only the lems but the whole piece.

Avelino....exactly the same problem. I was going to get them to disconnect it until the part came in. They actually took one off another carrera they had in the lot after they said it would take up to a week.
