911S Backordered until April
I went to Hoehn Porsche in Carlsbad and was told that orders for the new 911S have the car backordered until April 2005.
Just curious to hear what others are experiencing.
I need to go back and discuss what it takes to "order" one.
Any tips from the membership here would be appreciated. I'm assuming it takes a deposit, which is either refundable or refundable?
I am also curious to here whether the PCCB system is a worthy option.
Thanks! And yes, I am new to the forum. Currently drive an Audi A4 3.0 6-speed (2003).

Hoehn told me the same....They are crazy! You will be able to buy one off someones lot pretty soon....At those prices people are bound to change their mind and back out. Once the hype is over everything will calm down.
Mercedes has been doing this for a while now. They Take pre-orders and limit supply early on so all those poor people who have to have one or have so much money they dont care, will pay full price!
I don't fault them because it is their money and their choice, but just don't listen to some sales guy who is hyping up the product.
I will buy one next year once there are some deals and all the early bugs are worked out! I will shop around though, there are plenty of dealers from San Diego to L.A.!!!
Good luck!

Do this. Go to the Porsche web site. You can see all the inventory for all dealers online. If you want a car in stock, this is the best way to find out. As long as the dealers inventory practices are legit if you know what I mean. Plus, any dealer that got a small pile of cars initially likely has nice allocations for the future like Alfie. We found an inbound car at a smaller dealer and I can tell you their supply is tight. -Pete

Yes! Choose the "all inventory" option or whatever it's called. You will see 2005 cars. If it's a Carerra or Carerra S it's a 997. You could see launch cars and more at bigger dealers. When I only viewed "911" sometimes the 997's didn't show. -Pete

Here's the link to the dealer locator:
http://www.porschedealer.com/dealer/index.html
Enter the zip code for a list of dealers.
Click on a dealer
Then just click on "New Cars"
Then click on view all inventory
Repeat until you find the car you want
