So the plastic nipple near the top of my driver side radiator has partially snapped off into the coolant overflow hose (turquoise quick connect fitting).
I ordered a new radiator as I think this will likely be unrepairable given the susceptibility to future breakage and potentially not being able to get a stable reliable repair but any thoughts? Have others repaired this nipple with success? I did get the other half of the nipple out of the quick connect fitting on the hose.
I obviously don’t want to get stranded with a coolant leak but also didn’t plan on having to take the time to replace my radiator(s) either.
I think you made the right call ordering a replacement radiator.
Thanks. I tried to see if a barbed union connector would work but nothing I found had the correct sizing and not sure I would ultimately trust it anyway.
Yeah, you're doing the right thing. The plastic just gets brittle over time, and if it snapped there then the rest of it isn't in good shape.
I had to pull the plastic oil vapor hoses out of my 987.2 a couple weeks ago and they snapped in like three places: there's basically no way I could've gotten them out in one piece. The new ones were infinitely more flexible.
