Default Dropping Right Mirror - Lubricate?

2009 C2S 206K miles

How do I lubricate that side dropping mirror?

I noticed when I dropped into reverse, the mirror dropped in a jerky motion. I think I need to lubricate the mechanism.

Peace

@Bruce In Philly Have you previously replaced the motor? They do tend to fail and if not already replaced at your mileage it may be on its way out.
It is a very easy 5 min job.

Bruce, This shows how to remove the outside mirror glass to access the mirror motor. Shoot a light lubricant where the mirror glass attaches to the motor then reassemble. If the lube doesn’t solve the jerkiness the motor is on its last legs.

Boy, that was easy. Almost a disappointment. I didn't break anything.

I went ahead and removed the motor but left it plugged in, then operated the joystick to see how it moved. Then I shot some WD40 in there... tried to be surgical but just shot the hell out of it. It was filthy back there. Then I moved the motor to all three extreme points and wiped what I could... it was really crudded up. Nice and smooth now.

Thanx all.

Peace

Did the same to mine today. Flushed everything with WD40, followed up with some ISO and then put some lithium grease on the gears before putting it all back together. Smooth like butter.
