Default Bore Scoring

In the market for a 997.

Found a 2007 997.1 with 76k miles / 122k km

Emailed the dealer they said car went under full inspection with bore scoping included

and this was the reply :

We found no issues with the exception of a hairline scratch on Cylinder No. 1 which is likely not even bore scoring but the temperature fluctuations.

I attached the photo they sent me

I’m not familiar with this whole bore scoring thing so was wondering if you guys can help and let me know if this looks good or bad

thanks

As others will tell you after I do, cylinder #6 is always the worst and #1 is usually one of the best. I would not trust the dealer as far as I could throw them. Pay and indy for a proper borescope and PPI. An engine rebuild is $25k and up and you want to avoid that.
