Cell Phone Holder
What cell phone holders are you using in your 997's?
- I am looking for something decent and not "cheap" looking. I do not like the ones that clip into your air vent as they do not work, nor do I wish to permanently stick anything on the dash.
A manufacturer name, place of purchase and a picture of what you are using would be very helpful, thanks very much in advance.
I use a Choetech mount that uses the CD slot. It's not this exact one but it's very similar. It's effective and doesn't block vents or PCM.
I'm replacing the PCM with an android unit soon so will have to figure out an alternative. I'll probably go with something like the Proclip below that mounts under the trim.
I tried a CD slot mount first. Phone sits too low and basically blocks the entire PCM (I have the original head unit, not the PCCM+ or aftermarket). Took it out.
Looked at the Rennline. Expensive for what it is, but looks very high quality. from the photos, don't care for the low and far right positioning.
Looked at ProClips. Same issue as the Rennline, low right position seems less than idea. barely cheaper than Rennline (same price if comparing non-MagSafe charging Rennline.)
Currently have an air vent clip mount. Not ideal, but blocks far less of the PCM, and positions higher.
The offset allows you to position it so the bottom of the phone doesn't extend downward and block the PCM view too much. Just put the mounting plate at the bottom of the phone. It works pretty well and I've been happy with it.

The reality is in this car the spot the rennline and proclip put the phone is the only real location. With my iPhone 12 pro max, it sits below the cup holder when in use and doesn't block the screen. It does get in the way of the right dial, but if you have carplay that **** isn't used very much. I just wish it wasn't in the way of my passenger's knee. The other options either block the screen, glue to the dash, cover a vent, or block the cupholders.
I currently use the Rennline and it works great but it does get in the way of the cup holder. That being said; I am upgrading to a car play HU in the next few weeks then I'll just leave my phone in my bag same as I do in my 22 GMC truck. Carplay is really the way to go.
