Finally got the settlement offer from my insurance company. I'm sure they had a hard time trying to find comps as I'm getting very depressed trying to find one on AutoTempest or AutoTrader :banghead:. I've even tried opening my aperture to 718s and 991.1s but their lines just aren't right. :(

Just to be clear, I'm a cab guy. When the sun's out and the air is crisp, I love having the top down and carving the canyon roads. I haven't test-driven a 991, the 997 just felt right. I think I test-drove a 987 when I was first looking at Porsches 9 years ago and while it drove well, climbing out of it felt like getting out of a flight suit.

Just make sure you grind on the insurance company for market/replacement value.
Was the accident your fault?? If not get yourserlf a rental car because liable accident party will fund it.

They’ll only pay rental for short period. Years ago lady totaled my car. Explained to their agent I travel full time so getting car quick will be issue. Told him I usually take 4-6 months to buy a car but will get one within a month. He said ok. Bought one 3 weeks later. Rental company called and wanted money for last 3 weeks, insurance would only pay 1 week. Called her agent. Jerk tried to stiff me. I told him, you know, my neck’s starting to hurt. He paid.

This is the kind of things that made me switch to Hagerty recently. At least (supposedly) you are getting back the value of your car (you define it ahead of time) and there is a cherished option, too.

I hope I never have to deal with all this stuff.

Just couldn't find another 997.2 C2S Cab that fit the bill so I've gone with a 2013 991.1 C2S Cab. White over Espresso with a Cocoa top. I expect to fly to Atlanta to pick it up Saturday after next then 2 days to drive it back to Colorado. I'm both excited and depressed.

Oh yeah, and the insurance company stuck to their guns on ACV which I think was horse puckey but I'm tired of arguing with them.

Congrats and enjoy- sounds beautiful with that color combo. FWIW I am not a fan of the 997 cab looks wise (have a 997 coupe), but, I think the 991.1 cabs have much better lines (more sleek looking than 997 cab) and I would almost consider one myself one day.. So maybe my perspective will help you appreciate the 991 cab moreso, as I consider myself to have good and discerning taste, haha.

Yeah, the 991 cab is the first good looking 911 cab to my eyes as well.

Sadly had an accident 2 weeks ago and the appraisal came back as totaled. I was afraid of this outcome as I dearly love the 997.2 platform and it was the color I wanted inside and out. I had faint hope since all the damage was on the front but the appraiser said it would essentially have to be rebuilt from the firewall forward.

I'm still waiting for the insurance company to come up with an estimate on what they'll give me for it but in the meantime I'm trying to look around for a replacement.

What do people think about the 991.1 or 991.2 versus the 997.2?

Same as you...not too much! I'd go older!

Cars are like women...what's beautiful to one maybe brutal to another. The entire 991 lineup doesn't do it for me. Not one model!

I actually liked the lines of the 997 cab. Something seems ... off ... on the pictures of the 991 cab when I look at it but I'm sure I'll grow to like it as well.

If I had the time and ability for a project car, I would totally investigate buying my old one off the insurance company. All the damage was on the front end since my car basically went in under the other vehicle and lifted its rear. Just couldn't get the brakes to stop fast enough when he came to a sudden stop (not his fault, the truck in front of HIM did an unwarned sudden stop while traffic was flowing at 60-65 mph -- as I understand it, his sensors did the automatic braking because he didn't even see the truck stopping). I understand why the insurance company totaled it given the cost of just replacing the headlights much less the frunk lid and both front quarter panels.
