Default 997.1 door speaker size?

It sounds like one of the factory non Bose speakers has just blown in my drivers door

Can anyone tell me what size the 2 speakers are so I can start shopping around before taking off the door cards?

I know there is a million threads about speakers on here but I'm struggling to find a definitive answer to the size of the standard speakers without going full audiophile

There is a 6 1/2" low in the door and a 3 1/2" in the upper door which is mounted to the door panel.

Both have unique mounting parts, the 3 1/2" has protruding ears and the 6 1/2" is a very shallow transducer. I purchased a fabricated plastic bracket for the 3 1/2" to match the 997.1 mounting ring and had to cut the plastic backbox (back of the mounting bracket inside the door) to get a standard 6 1/2" depth speaker to fit.

Hope this helps. I've attached pics below. Reach out with any questions. Happy to help!

Perfect info, thanks

How do you rate the sound quality of the Focal speakers over the originals?

Do you have a link for the plastic bracket for the 3.5" speaker?

Most 3.5 will bolt right in without a bracket. I have JL audios in mine, trim two ears off and bolt it.

Even though you're in the UK, Crutchfield electronics here in the USA has a size guide and adapters for most speakers to fit. They're a great resource to refer to, give it a try: https://www.crutchfield.com/g_400/Al...rs.html?tp=105

So sorry on this Mike. I've been away from the computer for a while. The Focals are TOTALLY different from the original speakers. They need A LOT more power. Once given this, I think they sound way more neutral and smoother than the Bose. But, they are NOT as loud (much less efficient). However, I LOVE them and think they are much better. They just need some juice.

Here’s how I did mine with 6.5”/3.5” not exactly glamorous, but very effective/functional.

I used the same 3.5s in the rear as well, very easy access. Pfister mufflers are another excellent audio upgrade.
