Default 997.1 OEM Head Unit

Has anyone encountered this problem on his/her 997.1? Is this unit totally toasted or has something come loose in the rear?

Mine eventually started doing that. (after a couple years of ambient heat related intermittent no sound issues)

Pissed me off so much I just turned it off. Fvck it. Then it turned itself back on. Fvck me.

So I replaced it with an Alpine head unit. Didn't solve the intermittency. Sent the amp out for repair. Everything works fine ever since.

No clue if the original head unit can be repaired or has any salvage value. Keep us posted.

So you’re saying it’s an amp issue? I know the head unit is dated but I have to wait until Porsche has the PCCM’s back in stock. They seem to be on back order everywhere.

Hahhaha....sounds about right! I am pretty sure these can be rebuilt. Check these guys out from the marketplace section of Panorama (PCA monthly mag):

The no sound intermittency was the amp. I dont think the amp had anything to do with the screen and turning itself on and off. But who knows
Becker was where I sent my amp.
