Default PCCM+ 997 Back-up camera interface

Hello all. I found some very helpful information for installing the new PCCM+ in my 997.1 C2S but I'd like to know a little more about connecting an aftermarket back-up camera to the new PCCM+. A few years ago I had a Sony head unit and back-up camera installed in my 05 C2S but now that Porshe has released the PCCM+ HU for 997.1, I removed the Sony and I'm installing the PCCM+. The back-up camera has no connector (maybe it was removed), instead the installer connected the 4 discreet, unterminated wires (from the camera) to the appropriate inputs of the Sony HU. Now that the Sony HU has been removed, I need to connect the camera wires to the PCCM+. My problem is that the PCCM+ camera interface is a small green (Fakra?) connector and not discreet wires. Does anyone know of a connector that mates to the PCCM+ green connector? Or is there another solution for connecting an aftermarket back-up camera to the PCCM+ interface?

you can buys a Fakra to RCA adapter on Amazon. Your camera likely should have a RCA plug. You can likely buy that adapter and modify it.

Thanks, that is exactly what I'll do. Now, do you know if the PCCM+ needs a reverse signal from the transmission the way my previous Sony HU did or is it already integrated?

all the directions for a back-up camera are included in the great DIY write on this forum. It's a sticky at the top of this forum. Yes it needs a signal if a manual car. Most use the reverse light and your previous installer likely did this. Have a look at the write up and it should be clear what you need to do.

Yes, I found it and it's very clear how the camera wiring needs to be connected. Thanks! Would you (or anyone) know where to source a spare connector pin for the 6-pin RCA Camera connector in order to make the connection to Pin-6 (Reverse "trigger") that enables the (Camera 12V Pwr) output on Pin-8? I am aware that I could just hot-wire the camera power but it would be nice to have it turn on only when the car is in reverse. I attached a little sketch and the green wire is where I need to plug into Pin-6 of the (6-pin) connector. (This drawing does not represent the actual PCCM circuitry, it's just a simplified equivalent)

Well, it's time for a mia culpa. The good news is my backup camera is working, the bad news is it doesn't work the way I thought it would. I was under the impression that once Pin-6 (Reverse "trigger") was activated by putting the car in reverse, it would enable Pin-8 (Camera 12V Pwr) and thereby provide power to the camera. However, I didn't measure any voltage on Pin-8 even though 12Vdc was applied to Pin-6 so I had to use a different power source and since I don't have a schematic I have no way of knowing why. Very sorry if I misled anyone who tried to use the circuit that I drew up. The moral of the story... try it first. Also, I was able to source connector pins through aliexpress. If anyone successfully used Pin-8 for camera power I'd appreciate it if you shared your method, thanks.

Does that men that 12v has to be applied to pin 6 and pin 8 for the PCCM+ to display the camera image?

No, +12V does not need to be applied to Pin-8 at least not in my application. I actually extracted the wire from Pin-8 and connected it directly to a different +12V source. I also used the backup camera DIY kit I bought from aliexpress to change out the Fakra video connector (the Fakra connector comes with the PCCM+) to a standard yellow RCA connector. I intended to use a Fakra to RCA adapter that I bought from Amazon but when I connected it to the camera feed, it didn't work. Further testing with an ohmmeter indicated that there was no continuity to the camera ground. So anyway, the bottom line is that I don't know what Pin-8 does in fact, I don't even know if it's an input or an output to the PCCM+. Now I may have read somewhere that it could be a low current power source that could be used to drive a relay that would switch +12V power to the camera but like I said before, I didn't measure any voltage at Pin-8 even when Pin-6 (Reverse) was activated. If anyone knows or used Pin-8, I'd like to learn how they did it.
