The folding sport bucket seats my 09 997.2 are beginning to give up the ghost. Anyone with experience in the following two matters:
1. The wiring in seat belt buckles tends to die the way of old Apple lightning cords whereby the wiring completely wears out and throws SRS and seat belt warnings right at the base where the wiring goes into the buckle.. Anyone hacked this by inserting a resistor, showing "always engaged". i know this will always give a false positives on the dash but who the heck drives a car like this without a seat belt. I have grown tired of replacing this buckle every few years. Porsche clearly rushed this to market without their typical engineering.
2. The folding seat pull has torn on one end and only attaches at one point in the loop, any experiences replacing this pedestrian piece in such a rare seat?
There is an electrical connection that runs between the seat belt anchor cables that seem to wear out with use, see attached. I have changed out the entire assembly before and I am thinking of just bypassing it, seems a bit extreme to spend another $225 when the buckle and anchor are fine. Just seem like bad cable engineering. Thoughts? Seat belt sensor from folding sport bucket seat, lighting up my dash with SRS and seatbelt lights.
Actually on the latest replacement I zip tied the sensor wiring to the anchor cabling with 2 inches of slack with hope of never having to replace this part again. The sensor wiring is plenty long as it runs to the main box under the seat.

1) Your dealership sells replacement buckles with new wiring, make sure to purchase the correct part, there are different sizes
2) See above, you can purchase a new strap from the dealership and have a competent upholstery shop do the install
Solved the seat belt sensor issue. Wired in 100ohm resistor, closing the circuit permanently, fasted reworked wiring package by the yellow molex under the seat and routed the buckle anchor only. So both the seatbelt and SRS sensors are clear. Basically rendering the warning light null however how drives a car like this without a seatbelt. Happy days!

Can you post pics of this with details as to the wire taps and how you did it? I am curious... I have had this issue once and just replaced the whole buckle...
Thanks
CAUTION - This fix will render the seatbelt warning light on the dash useless as it is a bypass of the circuitry for the seatbelt warning light. However, it does solve the problem of a clearly poorly engineered strain relief grommet entering the buckle, but as mentioned previously who would pilot 400+ HP car without the proper restraints. I always give my restraints to my seat and helmet a good tug before heading out for the next DE or AX run as a matter of habit.
I wish I had documented the fix better but where is what I used to remove the seat.
Here is a picture of my bypass, just add a 100ohm resistor in between the yellow and blue wires in the sensor, wrap it up and/or shorten it and secure to the yellow molex bundle, there is no good reason the run it back to the seat belt buckle. Toughest part was figuring out you need to push back the two little fins with your fingers and pop the grey molex out of the yellow bundle. Good luck!
