Default Option Code Experts-wheel colors

When I bought my '12 Carrera GTS sight unseen I expected the wheels to be Meteor Grey in color since it was built with option code XD9 "wheels painted in exterior color". The wheels are in fact painted silver and I was wondering if a previous owner may have painted them. Since the GTS comes standard with black colored wheels I looked for cars that had wheels in other colors. See the attached list for details. There doesn't seem to be any pattern-option 346 denotes "wheels painted silver" and 422 designates the 19" RS Spyder wheel design but it seems redundant for that option to be listed since the wheel is standard. Does anybody know the nuances of wheel color ordering?

My GTS came optioned with XD9 and the Spyders were painted in BBM with the silver polished lip.

The many build sheets I’ve examined over the years are not logical, consistent or standardized- as you’ve pointed out.

Redundant entries abound. Perhaps the codes make sense on the assembly line, but often not to the owner or casual observer.

I was unhappy with the crappy looking offsets and inability to add spacers on CL wheels, so went with 997.2 GT2RS size OZ Ultralegerras. The flat black complements the BBM color as well as the matching Spyders.

Just received my new OZ Superforgiatas, which shed 6 lbs per wheel. Special ordered from factory, but they would not finish them in BBM- at any price. They did agree to leave the busy raised lettering unpolished for me.

Liste-Renn-You're one of the people I hoped would reply-thanks for that! Those Superforgiatas are HOT! I'm now convinced that my wheels weren't painted in the field and that's what I was trying to determine.

Yo, here’s a quite obvious example of body color matched RS Spyder wheels:

X9D code on build sheet:

BTW, it hammered for just under $102K yesterday…MSRP was $170K.

I believe this car is on my list of Turbo S cars above. So far, most of the cars with body colored wheels have the wheel type 422 (denoting the RS Spyder design) listed in addition to XD9. It is confusing to be sure.

My build sheet in post #2 had X9D, but does not have 442. They were painted in BBM.
