Lip/Spoiler Repair Question

Lip/Spoiler Repair Question
My 997.2 4s has a GTS front bumper and a thin black front lip/spoiler as shown in the attached photos. Over the course of 27000 miles the lip has picked up white blemishes/specks which until recently I really didn't care to address. Recently however I scraped a curb and it left the large mark shown. Is the factory piece originally black and I've pickup up white paint transfer over time or is the piece originally white and was painted black and now has been scrapped down to the surface? Is repainting this piece while still attached to the car an easy DIY or must the trim be removed? Thanks for any assistance offered.

I would absolutely repaint that piece on the car because of that channel between the factory paint and the black lip is an easy spot to tape off.
Sand, mask off, primer/fill spray, sand, wipe down and paint a satin black.
You may have to primer/fill spray and sand twice depending on how smooth it is.
Would probably help to lift the front of the car for access.

Commonly painted satin black, the OE lip is molded in polyurethane "whitish". Hence, deep scrapes expose the bare white pu.
I have removed, repaired, and refinished the lip on my car several times. Not difficult to remove. The lip is clipped in and fastened at each end by an expanding nut.
