I acquired a 2012 C4S in December. A weird issue developed with the PCCM touchscreen shortly after I got it home.
When I first start the car, the touchscreen doesnt work. If you try to make selections using the touchscreen, its doesnt recognize your touches. However, you can use the dials just fine with no problem to navigate and make selections. After about 20 or so minutes of driving, the touchscreen will start freaking out on its own, as if some ghost is making random selections. After it does that for 30-45 seconds or so, the touchscreen will then work perfectly with no problem for the rest of the drive.
Since I have had the car, I have had it hooked up to a CTEK MUS 4.3 battery tender. Not sure if that caused the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem is or any fixes? Very much appreciated in advance. Thanks.
Sorry to bump an old thread - did you get any insight or answer to your problem? I have a slightly similar problem that's reared up on mine after 3 years. The touch screen has stopped working, and I no longer get the option for DAB radio in the Tuner menu. On a cold morning, I've noticed I get the "phantom touch" issues you described, then the screen will stop working altogether after about 10-15 mins. Have tried emailing Kramer who make the units but not gotten anywhere yet!
I reached out to Becker. They said I could ship the unit to them and estimated the cost would be $650-$975 plus shipping. $975 if there is major liquid damage internal. That was in 2023. I never got around to doing that. Too busy. Problem not annoying enough to take the time. Then about a year or so ago, the problem went away. The unit works totally fine now as normal. Very weird.
P.S. My problem was with the originally installed OEM head unit, not the PCCM Plus upgraded unit that has carplay etc. Sorry for any confusion. I was new to Porsche ownership back when I made my original post and maybe not up to speed on all the lingo and acronyms.
