Default First Class Battery- Optima DH7? Feedback

I am looking for some feedback On The Optima DH7 for a 2005 997.1 6 speed. This battery was recommended by a very trusted Rennlist member who I respect. Current price for the yellow top DH7 is $349.99 ( best I could find ). Comments? Thanks....All the best in 2023!

I have had 2 of these in my .2. First battery went bad after 3 months. Took it back and got a replacement and no issues since. (7months and going strong)

price seems good.

I would buy another… I have had a bad battery from other brands before. As long as they honor their warranty and back their product I don’t fault them.

That price was on Amazon....I had an Optima in my 1973 BMW 2002tii for many years! Worked great!

Optima have moved their manufacturing facility to Mexico and quality have gone down significantly since then... definitely not what they used to be.

I don't think there's any reason to buy an Optima over any other H7 AGM battery. They're all pretty much made by one of two companies anyway, see link for who makes what.

Generally I'd just try to find one in the right size with a longer warranty, I suspect those are the better-made models.

Honestly any AGM battery would be fine, got mine from AutoZone for $175.

Next time around I am going to with a Lithium Ion battery from Antigravity.

The built in jump feature and the lack of degradation after sitting is big selling points, the less weight thing is the icing on top.

Had a lithium ion battery on my wife’s motorcycle and it was awesome.

Thanks ! I will check into Antigravity. They are pricey!

They’re a sponsor here so might want to search the forum for a sale or message them to see if they have a forum promotion going.

Second Antigravity Lithium. Have one in my 1985.5 944 and will be installing in my 997.2 GTS shortly. All the same advantages as stated by @ATX_Native

I like the Antigravity batteries but have a hard time justifying the cost. The jump reserve is a cool feature.

Yep, Around 1K is hard to swallow!...I don't think I will pull the trigger on the antigravity.

Yeah, it's tough to justify. The weight savings is impressive, but you're never going to notice the difference on the street.

A good lithium portable jump starter is under $100. You can buy that and an AGM and still be at like 40% of the cost.

+1 on Antigravity lithium ion battery. Top of the line. So much better than OEM or AGM and 70% less weight. Purchased earlier in the year after experiencing intermittent battery issues and never looked back.
