Default Rear cross brace install help

This is a stupid spot to get stuck on my engine install, but I am finishing things up and cannot figure out how the rear cross brace should go. I have it how it seems to fit, but feel like I am missing something with these top nuts. In this position they are doing nothing and it can’t be right. Maybe they are right and when the car is on the ground they hold the rubber bushing in place? Any help/insight is appreciated!

Not sure if this helps. Lifted the car to check. Didn't have time before work to pull the bottom cover. Hopefully this helps and this is what you were looking at

It does help, that is how I have them! I wonder what purpose they serve, because they are doing nothing except keeping the bushing from coming completely out, but that would be a lot of flex between that bar and the subframe.

My brace looks thicker. Not sure if it's a camera trick? Any chance you have the bar backwards?

For reference I have a 2009 Carrera 4 Cab

my cross brace fastener looked the same as yours when i installed my motor, sat a bit higher and didn't make contact with subframe.

I think the fastener makes contact with the subframe under load.
