Default PCM 2.1 date error - SOLVED at 0 cost!

Most of you knows this problem due to communication between GPS and PCM.
This is the 0 cost solution. You can act in 2 ways: either on PCM or on navigation DVD player. Same strategy.
The posted images refer to navigation DVD player.

This is starting situation

Step 1 - Disconnect GPS cable

Step 2 - Disconnect MOST cable

Step 3 - Turn on PCM, adjust date and hour and turn off PCM

Step 4 - Connect MOST cable, DON'T connect GPS cable.

Now the date is right and won't go back to wrong dates. Enjoy!

Don't you have to connect the GPS cable at some point? Or do you have to sacrifice GPS for the ability to display the correct time?

If you connect GPS cable the date comes back to 2003. I use my phone for navigation.

I think I would rather have my navigation running with an incorrect date. I can look at my watch for the date.

This is timely, as I noticed a couple months ago that my car started displaying the wrong date. Since the date is controlled by the GPS, the PCM did not give me the option to change the date manually, only the time.

Does anyone know how to change the display so where the date doesn't show at all? I can't think of a single instance where I've needed the date while I'm driving. I'd rather just remove the date display all together. While I don't use the PCM for turn-by-turn navigation, I do occasionally use the Tron-esque Map feature to get my bearings in the mountains or look for an upcoming turn without holding my phone, so I'd rather not disconnect the GPS antenna.

The PCCM+ for our cars can't come soon enough....

I was thinking about that too (disabling the date) but not sure it's possible.

I disconnected the MOST cable a while ago and set the date correctly but noticed that even with the car on a battery tender, the date will reset if not driven long enough.

I have even tried re-booting the PCM by pressing 1,4,8 at the same time. The date will disappear but only for about an hour or so. The time is also not as accurate now because it, too, was constantly updated by satellites. The time on my unit needs to be adjusted every couple of months now.

In the end, this is not a major issue.

Default Incorrect date on PCM

I have found out that any Porsche workshop can turn off automatic date for the PCM2.1
Hope this helps.
