Default Two microphones in the steering column?

I am in the final stages of buttoning up my NM auto installation and I’m down to placement of the NM box’s CarPlay mic.

Upon searching this forum I came across a post about an Enfig mic that is designed to fit in an unused mic position just under the steering column where the OEM microphones go. Unfortunately my car has both OEM holes used with for microphones for the car.

The questions I have are this:

1) what are each oem’s microphones functions? Could one be disconnected (removed) to allow me to use one of the two positions for the enfig mic? Keeping in mind I want to retain the car’s OEM Bluetooth function for calls —> I need the phone mic to remain in place.

2) where can I put this mic if the OEM holes will not work. I am trying to keep everything as stealth as possible to avoid any aftermarket looking equipment.

thanks!

How is it secured to the steering column?

Mine only had 1 mic, the right side used. You could try disconnecting one and seeing if everything still works. The connection is just at the back of the steering column surround if memory serves me. I also found that a standard mic fit in the spot without needing to use a custom "meant for porsche" mic. Having the mic hidden fully inside the column looks way better than stuck on the top of column or stuck up on the overhead console, and its very little more work.

Hmmm, interesting.
How do you get the steering wheel surround off?

It's 3 t10 torques screws accessed from the bottom. 1 easy to see in the middle, 2 up in little holes, while laying on your back looking up.
