Default Changing oil level/temp sensor. While I'm there?

I'm having that sensor changed in a few weeks as it's getting wonky. Since they have to drop the engine, anything else I should get done that is hard to reach?

2006 C2S, 94500km.

Cheers!

I’ve heard AOS is easier with the engine out. Check the condition of your clutch. I don’t know where the starter cable is, but if that’s hard to reach, check that. I’m sure some more experienced members will chime in.

Basic 997.1 worries include AOS, water pump, thermostat, starter cable, starter, IMS solution. I'm sure others will pipe in. Good luck.

Arent there a couple of cam? position sensors that are wise to replace proactively ?
Check all hoses/lines you can lay your hands on.

I have never heard of having to drop the engine to replace the oil level sensor. I have always thought of, seen it, and done it by removing the one side of the intake manifold with the engine in the car. Admittedly it is not real fun, but very doable. While you are in there, 997 AOS and associated plumbing tubes should be looked and changed. I would not worry about the cam position sensors, but the heat exchanger orings, they should be changed if you have a lot of miles on them.

Turns out I may not have to change the sensor after all.

i initially thought I needed to because my oil temp would go crazy. Like stay at 175 at a spot I know it should be a long enough drive to be at 200. Then when I start riding more aggressively it jumps from 175 to 225 in 2 seconds and will drop to 200 or even back at 175 which makes no sense!

I had an issue a few weeks ago where the oil pressure gauge was at .5 with the ignition on while it should remain at 0. I cleaned the connections and that went away but the oil temp gauge went bezerk around the same time.

So I may just need to change the sender even though it's only two years old.

Makes sense?

Oil pressure and temperature AFE measured at two different spot. Sounds like the temp sensor and the pressor sensor are both on their way out.

I would recommend doing the AOS and starter, A/S cable while you are in there

So the sender has no role in the oil temperature values? I read in another thread the someone had a similar issue and the sender was the cause.

Maybe they were confusing the 2 different sensors? I know I am confused as some will call it an oil sensor (which could be different things) while others an oil sender so you never know for sure. 🫤

By memory, my guy said that he has to drop it by 4 inches to access the sensor.

By the way, can I keep driving the car or not having the right oil temperature will cause other issues and causing more harm?

The issue was present yesterday when driving to my destination but it was not on my way back.

Don't be confused, Oil-level and oil-temperature 997 is same sensor. I attach (again) good source from Pelican.

Looking at the part number, it seems like the oil level/temp sensor is being replaced by an updated part but it is now a sender?

https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...06-150-01-M100

I see sensor and sender being used everywhere. Are they the same thing? 😵‍💫

Maybe call the dealer parts desk and see if they can set you straight.
