Default Oil prime after rebuild

Hi all, I'm half way through putting my C2S engine back together and I'm not to sure which route to go down with oil priming the engine.

The engine had bore score, it was completely stripped and 6 new cylinders fitted by Hartech. I've used build lube on bearings so far but I'm not sure what way to go with the oil pump.

Is Vaseline on the pump splines and cranking over with the fuel pump relay out until I get oil pressure adequate?

Would an engine oil pressure priming kit be worth buying?

The engine will likely be sat for a few months before getting started.

You can use vasoline. Be sure to buy a new one and not the “shop” vasoline container as it could be contaminated.

to prime crank and immediately shut off. Do that several times letting the starter cool down in between.

To clarify, crank until it fires, then immediately shut off.

Thanks for the replies

Would you use vasoline, or are there better alternatives? Is permatex build lube fine? Or just plain oil?

I'm sure I'm being far to cautious but I'd hate to roast my bearings on the first start after so much effort and money.

Anything that seals, stays in place till it doesn’t need too and dissolves in oil.

pick your poison
