Went in to adjust my headlights which were pointed very far down. Driver side worked fine using a hex, passenger side not so much. Popped out the headlight to try it out of the car and the projector isn't moving at all...has anyone dealt with this? I was thinking of cracking open the back of the headlight and swapping the bulbs while i was in there but curious if anyone knows if it's possible the mechanism stripped.
I took apart the entire assembly and figured out that the plastic gear from the adjustment nut (the white HEX) attaches on the other side to another gear that leads to a grooved metal pin that pulls the leveler to and fro. The second gear on mine was about 1/5ths stripped, so once it got to about 80% of one turn...it would just keep spinning as the main gear wouldn't catch.
There is a pinned torx screw right next to the level adjusters on the outside of the housing - this pulls and pushes the secondary gear to the main gear. I loosened this and then inserted my hand into the housing, pressing against the grooved pin and slowly turned the gear from the outside, after a few rotations, it would catch again...then repeat. I did this for about 100 rotations to get the projector lens to where i wanted. Unfortunately, there's not way to really see where the projector lens lines up again without reconnecting the leveler.
Anyone who runs into this feel free to reachout and I can walk you through how I went about it.
