Default Motul xcess gen 2 suitable for 997.1

Hello,

I’ve been long using Motul 8100 X-Cess 5/40w on my 05 M96 and now only being able to find the new Gen2 product. Is it still recommended to go with this new upgraded Motul? Both the X-cess and X-Clean are Porsche approved A40, is one better then the other? 997.1 39k miles on engine.

thanks

I'm using GEN 2 in my 05 C2 now and haven't noticed any differences. But no UOA's yet. If you Google it you'll get quite a few hits on it.
Or go to the Motul web site and they explain GEN 2.

I don’t UOA at all. The 911 is winter parked from October 1st to April 1st Every year with two annual oil changes, 1st when it parked for storage and then 2nd mid summer sometime, with a total average about 3000 miles a year. I’m using l Motul cause under the understanding it’s a good blend for these Older M96 engines for IMS and scoring issues.

I have done my research on the gen 2 and on the understanding the changes are more for newer BMW warranty vehicles. Just curious now for these reasons if I should stay with Motul or convert to a different better option oil on the 05 C2…

I went to the Motul website, and it says the Gen2 8100 Xcess 5W-40 is not recommended for my model yr 997 (07). It says their X-clean and X-max are ok to use. Is that because of the Gen2 changing formulas to adjust for the new BMW standards? I was gonna try out Motul just for giggles for a year.

I am using Xcess Gen2 8100 and the cars has been running very well with it .... I was using 8100 x-clean and the UOA came back with very good results . I decided to switch regardless to the Xcess 8100 gen2 simply for the benefit of having a full Sap oil rather than a Mid Saps oil like the Xclean. Both are excellent oils for our 997's
