Default Rennline Phone Mount Install

Hi RennTeam - just picked up the Rennline Magnetic phone mount (and annoyingly, forced to purchase both the mag mount AND the charging mount in order to get the combo I wanted - MagSafe charging and the rennline mount bracket...

I am in search of a DIY write up, and ideally, a source to find a 90-degree male micro-usb (flat as possible) to 90-degree male usb-a to power the MagSafe from mount to a lighter insert in the passenger footwell (but if there's a better way to power this, I'm all ears!)

I did search, I didn't find.

I gave up with foot well socket and found a power plug with an off/on switch and put it in console plug. Easy turn off/on no worries of broken plug in foot well.

Go on Amazon or Google “Right Angle USB Cord”.

USB Right Angle Cable USB Right Angle Cable

USB Angle Adaptor USB Angle Adaptor

They even have right angle USB Male-Female adaptors.

You can also relocate the Footwell Power Receptacle behind the carpet/under the center stack/dash and run the cable down the center trim. That way there is no footwell intrusion.

Would you intend to turn off the charger, or let it stay on?

I routed a fused cigarette lighter plug from the fuse box on a fuse that only had power with the key in (with the correct amps) under the dash and down the center console to plug in a a Bluetooth unit I had plugged into the 997.2 center console aux.

Then I plugged in a Cig Lighter in the footwell to USB to my MagSafe in one of the links above.

I never noticed any drain on the battery since my phone would always come with me and nothing was left on the Spiegen MagSafe Mount.

You could always run another cig lighter plug from a fuse that only sees power when the car is on under the center console like I did. Especially if you leave those things plugged in and they have LEDs or some other power draw.

My MagSafe device didn’t have any lights on it.

I recently added CarPlay so I removed the MagSafe Mount and Bluetooth unit.

My old Mount:

Yep, this. Low-profile 90-degree up micro-usb into the charging base, and another 90-degree usb-c up to the wheel-well socket plug
