Default Difference in ma101engines

Hi all

can any body tell me what the difference in a ma101 engine in a 997.2 (385hp) and the 991 ma101 engine (405hp) what makes up the extra hp?

There might be small differences along with some tuning differences.

However IMO factory rated HP is mostly worthless, it’s in the neighborhood.

As an example the GTI pretty much had the same HP between the Mk6 and MK7 Gen but the MK7 cars were putting their factory crank numbers and a little more down at the wheels.

Sometimes influenced by marketing departments, it can show a car with lessor HP so it doesn’t step on the toes of something in the model range above OR can show bigger HP to help sell a car. It also might be sandbagging with a longer term play in mind, like introducing a new engine late in the cycle of an old Gen, with the new Gen on its heels. Those new cars need some pizazz and a reason to get folks to trade up.

The differences are mainly different intake design (and different intake manifold iirc) + very small variations in engine internals and tuning as ATX stated, but other than that they are virtually the same engines
