Default TPMS

My 997.1 C4S never had a TPMS. Is it possible to add it to later using the same PCM or is that a factory programming issue.

Never came with them as someone deleted them and had the warning programmed out?

997.1 non turbo's should have all had TPMS and they are a Huf RDE001

They didn’t make them standard until 2007 model yr. I have a friend who has a 2006 C2S and he doesn’t have them.

I have found them to be a royal pain in the *** on all but one car, my 2016 BMW Z4. Glad to not have them on my 06 C4S. I regularly check pressures before heading out.

Weird. Must have been an option because TPMS started in the 911 in 2005.

If you don't have the module then I assume going to be tough to add without a helluva expense.

I am most happy that they are not on my 2006!

Best bet would then go this route. At least the cheapest without having to go the RV type route where they just screw on a cap.

Oh well. Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll just have to check it every time.

Programmed out of my 07. One of the happiest days of my life!

...so maybe that's a bit over the top, but I hate TPMS.

Default re-opening an old thread on TPMS

2006 C4S
Is there a way to tell if i have/should have TPMS without playing with the computer? the car is in storage and i need to order tires for when it comes out. Do build sheets include this info and if so, how do i get one?
such is one of the challenges faced by a newbie. thank you for any input.

you should see the tpms info when you start the car and/or when scrolling thru the menus on your instrument cluster. otherwise you will need a durametric pro/foxwell 530 to scan through your modules ... if you have tpms a 'tpms' module will show up.

i believe tpms oem factory issue by law was MY 2007. the technology was out before that but as an option only.

to the OP, there are various standalone aftermarket tpms adapters, but they look like overtly tacky/large tire valve caps (to house the tire pressure electronics)

The only oem looking tpms sensors I have seen, are the ones available as a USB add-on that is connected to any android based deck. These type of tpms sensors look like the factory ones where the TPMS electronics are hidden by the tires themselves - and can only be installed when fitting the tire to the rim. I have these for my 2005 mated to my android pcm as my car didnt have oem tpms.

I did buy a standalone tpms system but sold them right away - the tire caps look so large + silly.

TPMS was always an option prior to the 07 MY cars. I ordered them for my 06. Very glad to have them. TPs are critical on such low profile tires. To retrofit them is not an inexpensive proposition. Keep in mind that the wiring harness is custom to each car due to options and adding something like that is possible but pricy down stream.
