I've had an issue buckling up on hot days. I pull the seat belt but it won't extend fully, and I have to repeatedly retract and pull until I can finally get it to extend far enough to buckle up.

Has anyone else had this issue? I scanned the forums and didn't see anything similar. I did find a nice thread on cleaning sticky seat belts that won't retract... https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...retractor.html.

Is this more likely a misaligned seat belt retractor, or a dirty unit, or a broken unit? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Anyone? I still have this issue and I'd really like to fix it. It can take 5 minutes or more before I can drive off when the weather is hot.

Someone mentioned in the thread that there are companies that refurbish the mechanic of these belts, maybe a good alternative instead of new.

Thanks. The procedure's a bit different for the cabriolet, but with the workshop manual I'll figure it out.
